Murder Suicide

Due to this economic crisis people are killing themselves and each other. Look at the story of the woman who faced losing her home and shot herself in an attempt to get attention. The company since have apologized and decided not to take her home, but how long will this promise last. One a more sad note in Los Angeles a man, who had a degee (master at that) was unemployed for a while. Apparently he could seek employment and as a result decided that his only option was to end his life. Only before doing so he took the life of his loved ones that he was unable to provide financially for. According to the Associate Press he killed his wife, mother-in-law and their three children ages 19, 12 and 7 years of age. This such a sad turn of events and more and more people today will be looking for a similar way out of this economic crisis or recession as one would call it.

The Housing Market

The Standard & Poor's showed that homes prices are tumbling more than the annual rate ever in July, even though it is happening slowly, there is no sign of a way out. According to the S&P index the city housing index fell a record 16.3 percent in July from the year-ago month, the largest drop since its inception in 2000. The 10-city index plunged 17.5 percent, its biggest decline in its 21-year history. However, the pace of monthly declines is slowing, a possible silver lining. Between May and July, for example, home prices fell at a cumulative rate of 2.2 percent — less than half the cumulative rate experienced between February and April. But there's "no evidence of a bottom," said David M. Blitzer, chairman of the index committee at S&P.

This does not make me feel very comfortable, because three years ago I recently purchased my first home. Of course they said it was the right time to buy before rates go up. So, we took the plung and now this economic crisis hits. What will happen to our money if the banks go bankrupt? We will not be able to pay our mortgages if we lose our jobs? The leap we took in purchasing this home was for security for our families future. Now this future looks very dim.

Tthe National Association of Realtors said the median sales price of an existing home fell 9.5 percent to $203,100 last month, the largest annual price decline on records dating to 1999. The median home price of a new home fell 5.5 percent to $221,900 in August, the Commerce Department also said last week. The Case-Shiller numbers have yet to reflect the effects of the recent turmoil in the financial industry. This economic recession seems so real right now.

According to the Associated Press "How many people are going to sit down and say: 'You know honey, it's a good time to buy a house?'" asked Thomas Lawler, a housing economist in Northern Virginia, as stock markets tanked Monday. "The government really needs to get its act together."

The children have been off for the past two days due to the Jewish holiday (Rosh Hashanah). Yesterday while at work they called me with some nonsense. Would you believe that the six year old made the 12-year-old cry? What is that all about, she is telling me that the baby always gets her way? Jasmine the 12-year-old took away her bear and would not give it back. I had to explain to her that you do not give someone something and keep taking it back when they do something you do not like. If that were the case every time they did something I would have to do the same, which I don’t of course. Then in the interim I also had to let her know that there are more important and pressing matters going on in the world today than her feelings.
For instance, her father works on Wall Street where the entire economic crisis is taking effect; right now he doesn’t know if he will have a job at the end of this month (October).

Additionally, when you love someone there are times when you have disagreements and just deal with it. Just avoid her as much as you possible can. So, I allowed her to take solace in my room until she calms down, because she was hysterically crying. Can you believe that? I still can’t! The problem is they pay Kayla (6 yr. Old) entirely too much attention. STOP!!!!!!

Los Angeles as a city

East, L.A. (Los Angeles) want to become a city of its own, because in each county there is a population a little over 2 million people. They are mentioning all these famous people that reside or use to live in Los Angeles. The people that come from a certain place does not make that place. What kind of contributions do people like De La Hoya and Fernando Guerra make in L.A. that would warrant them being afforded the opportunity to be a city of its own. What contributions do they make to the economy on a whole? If there major contributions do not help the community, economy, or country then they should keep their current standing. LOS ANGELES -East L.A. — birthplace of the lowrider, Los Lobos and Oscar de la Hoya — is to Mexican-Americans what Harlem is to the black community. Spanish is the predominant language. Commonly mistaken for a part of Los Angeles, East L.A. is actually an unincorporated section of Los Angeles County, with more than 130,000 people — 96 percent of them Latino — packed into 7.4 square miles. However, the city revenue is well above the budgeted set amout. Since most of the mom and pops store operate without a business license. Now the residents fear that this will affect them if the stores are forced to obtain one.

The residents association must first submit a petition by December asking a county commission to conduct a study on whether a city of East L.A. would have an adequate tax base. So far, organizers have collected about half the 10,000 signatures needed, said Oscar Gonzales Jr., association president. Rep. Grace Napolitano, D-Calif., who supports cityhood, said she is encouraged this time because residents are well-organized and informed. "It has a great chance of passing," said the congresswoman, whose district includes East L.A. "But they will need to allay fears that incorporation will mean an increase in property taxes."

Bomb scare in JODHUR, India

This is such cruel action on the part of someone playing a prank. People were given false information as to the threat of a bomb scare that led people to panic; as a result a lot of lives were lost. These were peace-loving people that were at their temple on Tuesday, September 30 praying and once the doors opened, the chaos broke out. Leaving people to trample one another and close to 200 people were trampled to death. There were dozens of people lying on sidewalks, children crying over their parents body. One child sat on the ground next to the body of a woman, rubbing her forehead and crying "Mother, Mother." The chaos was made worse by the fact there was a power outage at the time.

The reasons for the hightened panic was due to the fact that India has been hit by a spate of bomb attacks. The latest explosions Monday night in the western cities of Malegaon and Modasa killed six people and wounded 45. In August, 145 people were killed when rumors of an avalanche sparked a stampede at a hilltop temple in northern India. Life wasted for what?

Playoffs

Well, the Mets and the Yankees did not make the playoffs this year. Of the two New York teams the Mets had the most potential of making it to the playoff, all they had to do was win a couple of games and they could not pull it off. The Mets pulled into a tie with Milwaukee for the wild card on Saturday, thanks to the pitcher Johan Santana with three-hit shutout on three days' rest.
But a day later, on that Sunday, September 28, 2008 New York was out. The Mets finished 1,859-1,713 at Shea, with the bullpen that failed them once again. The New York Mets completed their second consecutive September slide with a 4-2 loss to Florida that knocked them out of playoff contention in the final game at Shea Stadiumot do it.

It was an eerily similar scenario to last year, when New York lost at home to Florida on the final day of season, ending their playoff hopes. That defeat finished one of baseball's biggest meltdowns - the Mets had led the NL East by seven games with 17 to play before they went 5-12 down the stretch. This time, they held first place by a season-high 3 1/2 games with 17 remaining before going 7-10 the rest of the way. This was their final moment had that ballpark and the celebration lasted for about an hour. Next season, the New York Mets will be moving into their new ballpark, Citi Field. Bye, Bye Shea Stadium.
